पृष्टं तु साक्ष्ये प्रवदन्तमन्यथा
वदन्ति मिथ्या पतितं नरेन्द्र।
एकार्थतायां तु समाहितायां
मिथ्या वदन्तं त्वनृतं हिनस्ति॥ १७॥ |

| महाराज! यदि कोई निर्दोष मनुष्य के प्राण बचाने के लिए गवाही देने वाले को बुलाकर अन्यथा (झूठ) बोले, तो उसका कथन मिथ्या है। किन्तु जहाँ अपने और दूसरों के प्राण बचाने की स्थिति उत्पन्न हो, वहाँ केवल अपने प्राण बचाने के लिए झूठ बोलने वाले मनुष्य का मिथ्या कथन उसका नाश कर देता है॥ 17॥ |

| Maharaj! If someone calls a person who testifies to save the life of an innocent person and speaks otherwise (falsely) then his statement is false. But where the situation arises to save the life of both oneself and others, the false statement of the person who lies only to save his own life, leads to his destruction.॥ 17॥ |
