वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं - ऐसा कहकर भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने उन्हें शीघ्रता करने की प्रेरणा दी। विदुरजी ने धृतराष्ट्र के कहे अनुसार सब कार्य पूर्ण कर दिया। उसी समय हे राजन! महर्षि कृष्णद्वैपायन वहाँ आ पहुँचे। समस्त कौरवों ने अपने मित्रों सहित आकर उनकी पूजा की। तब व्यास जी ने वेदों में पारंगत ब्राह्मणों तथा मूर्ख अभिषिक्त राजाओं के साथ भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के उपदेशानुसार अभिषेक समारोह सम्पन्न किया। कृपाचार्य, द्रोणाचार्य, भीष्म, धौम्य, व्यास, श्रीकृष्ण, बाह्लीक और सोमदत्त ने चारों वेदों के विद्वानों को आगे रखकर भद्रपीठ पर शान्त भाव से बैठकर युधिष्ठिर का अभिषेक किया और सबने उन्हें आशीर्वाद देते हुए कहा, 'राजन! समस्त पृथ्वी को जीतकर तथा सब राजाओं को वश में करके, प्रचुर दक्षिणा सहित राजसूय आदि यज्ञों को सम्पन्न करके, पृथ्वी में स्नान करो और अपने बन्धु-बान्धवों के साथ सुखपूर्वक रहो।' जनमेजय! ऐसा कहकर सबने आशीर्वाद देकर युधिष्ठिर का सत्कार किया। समस्त आभूषणों से विभूषित होकर, मुकुटधारी राजा युधिष्ठिर ने अक्षय धन का दान किया। उस समय, समस्त प्रजा ने जयकारे लगाकर उनकी स्तुति की। सभी मुकुटधारी राजाओं ने कुरुपुत्र युधिष्ठिर का भी पूजन किया। फिर वे राजसी हाथी पर सवार होकर श्वेत छत्र से सुशोभित हुए। बहुत से लोग उनके पीछे-पीछे चल रहे थे। उस समय, वे देवताओं से घिरे हुए इन्द्र के समान अत्यन्त शोभा पा रहे थे। सम्पूर्ण हस्तिनापुर नगर की परिक्रमा करके राजा ने पुनः राजधानी में प्रवेश किया। उस समय, प्रजा ने उनका विशेष आदर किया। बन्धु-बान्धवों ने भी मुकुटधारी राजा युधिष्ठिर का आदरपूर्वक स्वागत किया। यह सब देखकर दुर्योधन सहित गांधारी के सभी पुत्र अपने भाइयों सहित शोक करने लगे। अपने पुत्रों को शोक करते जानकर, धृतराष्ट्र ने भगवान श्रीकृष्ण और कौरवों की उपस्थिति में राजा युधिष्ठिर से (इस प्रकार) कहा।
Vaishampayanji says – Saying this, Lord Krishna inspired him to hurry up. Vidurji completed all the work as per the instructions of Dhritarashtra. At the same time, Rajan! Maharishi Krishnadvaipayana came there. All the Kauravas along with their friends came and worshiped him. Then Vyas ji, along with the Brahmins who were well-versed in the Vedas and the foolish anointed kings, performed the consecration ceremony as per the advice of Lord Krishna. Kripacharya, Dronacharya, Bhishma, Dhaumya, Vyas, Shri Krishna, Bahlika and Somdutt, keeping the scholars of the four Vedas in front, anointed Yudhishthira while sitting calmly on the Bhadrapeetha and everyone blessed him saying, 'King! After conquering the whole earth and subduing all the kings, after completing the yagyas like Rajasuya with abundant dakshina, take bath in the earth and be happy with your relatives.' Janmejaya! Saying this, they all honoured Yudhishthira with their blessings. Adorned with all the ornaments, the crowned king Yudhishthira donated inexhaustible wealth. At that time, all the people praised him with cheers. All the crowned kings also worshipped Yudhishthira, the son of Kuru. Then he rode on the royal elephant and was adorned with a white umbrella. Many people were following him. At that time, he was looking very beautiful like Indra surrounded by gods. After going round the entire city of Hastinapur, the king again entered the capital. At that time, the citizens gave him special respect. The relatives also greeted the crowned king Yudhishthira with respect. Seeing all this, all the sons of Gandhari, including Duryodhan, were grieving along with their brothers. Knowing that his sons were grieving, Dhritarashtra spoke to King Yudhishthira (thus) in the presence of Lord Krishna and the Kauravas.
