इसके साथ ही रथियों के बीच युद्ध का भी विस्तार से वर्णन किया गया है। शल्य पर्व में ही कुरु वंश के प्रमुख योद्धाओं का विनाश तथा महात्मा धर्मराज द्वारा शल्य के वध का वर्णन किया गया है। इसमें सहदेव द्वारा युद्ध में शकुनि के मारे जाने का प्रसंग है। 281-282।
