परन्तु वे उस प्रबल धनुष पर हाथ तो क्या, मन से भी प्रत्यंचा नहीं चढ़ा पाते थे। अपनी शक्ति, विद्या और गुणों के अनुसार उसे खींचने का प्रयत्न करते हुए वे सभी राजा उस प्रबल और चमकते हुए धनुष के झटके से दूर जा गिरते और लड़खड़ाकर भूमि पर गिर पड़ते। फिर उनका उत्साह समाप्त हो जाता, मुकुट और हार फिसलकर गिर पड़ते और वे गहरी साँसें लेते हुए शान्त बैठ जाते॥18-19॥
But they could not even string that strong bow, let alone with their hands, even with their mind. While trying to pull it according to their strength, education and qualities, all those kings were thrown away by the jerk of that strong and shining bow and would stumble and fall on the ground. Then their enthusiasm would end, the crown and necklace would slip and fall and they would sit quietly taking deep breaths.॥18-19॥
