ऋषिस्तु नापचक्राम तस्मिन् धर्मपथे स्थित:।
नापि राजा मुनेर्मानात् क्रोधाच्चाथ जगाम ह॥ १०॥
अमुञ्चन्तं तु पन्थानं तमृषिं नृपसत्तम:।
जघान कशया मोहात् तदा राक्षसवन्मुनिम्॥ ११॥ |

| ऋषिगण धर्म के मार्ग पर दृढ़ थे, इसलिए उन्होंने मार्ग नहीं छोड़ा। दूसरी ओर, राजा भी अपने अभिमान और क्रोध के कारण ऋषि के मार्ग से विचलित नहीं हो पा रहे थे। राजाओं में श्रेष्ठ कल्माषपाद ने मार्ग न छोड़ने वाले शक्ति ऋषि पर मोह के वशीभूत राक्षस की भाँति चाबुक से प्रहार किया। 10-11. |

| The sages were firmly established in the path of Dharma and hence did not leave the path. On the other hand, the kings too were not able to move away from the sage's path due to their pride and anger. Kalmashpada, the best of the kings, attacked the Shakti sage who did not leave the path with a whip like a demon under the influence of attachment. 10-11. |
