(धार्तराष्ट्रैश्च सहिता: पञ्चालान् पाण्डवा ययु:॥
यज्ञसेनेन संगम्य कर्णदुर्योधनादय:।
निर्जिता: संन्यवर्तन्त तथान्ये क्षत्रियर्षभा:॥ )
तत: पाण्डुसुता: पञ्च निर्जित्य द्रुपदं युधि।
द्रोणाय दर्शयामासुर्बद्ध्वा ससचिवं तदा॥ २२॥ |

| (गुरु की आज्ञा पाकर) पांडव धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों सहित पांचाल देश गए। वहाँ राजा द्रुपद से युद्ध छिड़ जाने पर कर्ण, दुर्योधन आदि कौरव तथा अन्य प्रमुख क्षत्रिय योद्धा पराजित होकर युद्धभूमि से भाग गए। तब पाँचों पांडवों ने द्रुपद को युद्ध में परास्त कर दिया और उन्हें उनके मंत्रियों सहित बंदी बनाकर द्रोण के समक्ष ले आए। |

There, when a war broke out with King Drupada, the Kauravas like Karna, Duryodhana and other prominent Kshatriya warriors were defeated and fled from the battlefield.
