तेन शब्देन वित्रस्तो जनस्तस्याथ रक्षस:।
निष्पपात गृहाद् राजन् सहैव परिचारिभि:॥ २॥
तान् भीतान् विगतज्ञानान् भीम: प्रहरतां वर:।
सान्त्वयामास बलवान् समये च न्यवेशयत्॥ ३॥
न हिंस्या मानुषा भूयो युष्माभिरिति कर्हिचित्।
हिंसतां हि वध: शीघ्रमेवमेव भवेदिति॥ ४॥ |

| हे जनमेजय! उस घोष से भयभीत होकर राक्षस परिवार के लोग अपने सेवकों सहित घर से बाहर निकल आए। उन्हें भय से अचेत देखकर योद्धाओं में श्रेष्ठ भीमसेन ने उन्हें सांत्वना दी और यह शर्त मान ली कि 'अब से तुम लोग कभी भी मनुष्यों की हिंसा नहीं करोगे। जो लोग हिंसा करते हैं, वे शीघ्र ही इसी प्रकार मारे जाएँगे।'॥ 2-4॥ |

| O Janamejaya! Frightened by that cry, the members of the demon's family came out of their house with their servants. Seeing them unconscious with fear, Bhimasena, the best of warriors, consoled them and made them agree to the condition that 'From now onwards, you people should never commit violence against human beings. Those who commit violence will soon be killed in this manner.'॥ 2-4॥ |
