क्योंकि जैसे छोटी सी आग ईंधन पाकर सम्पूर्ण वन को जला डालती है, वैसे ही छोटा शत्रु भी दुर्ग आदि सुदृढ़ आश्रय का आश्रय लेकर विनाशक बन सकता है। जब अंधे होने का अवसर आए, तब अंधे हो जाओ - अर्थात् अपनी असमर्थता के समय शत्रु के दोषों को न देखो। उस समय यदि सब ओर से धिक्कार और निन्दा भी मिले, तो उसकी उपेक्षा करो, अर्थात् उसकी ओर से कान बन्द कर लो और बहरे हो जाओ॥12॥
‘Because just as a small fire can burn down an entire forest when it gets fuel, similarly a small enemy can also become destructive by taking support of a strong shelter like a fort etc. When the opportunity to become blind comes, become blind – that is, do not see the faults of the enemy at the time of your inability. At that time, even if you get rebuke and criticism from all sides, ignore it, that is, close your ears towards it and become deaf.॥ 12॥
