तत: स वारुणास्त्रेण पूरयित्वा कमण्डलुम्।
सममाचार्यपुत्रेण गुरुमभ्येति फाल्गुन:॥ १८॥
आचार्यपुत्रात् तस्मात् तु विशेषोपचयेऽपृथक्।
न व्यहीयत मेधावी पार्थोऽप्यस्त्रविदां वर:॥ १९॥
अर्जुन: परमं यत्नमातिष्ठद् गुरुपूजने।
अस्त्रे च परमं योगं प्रियो द्रोणस्य चाभवत्॥ २०॥ |

| अतएव वह तुरंत ही वरुणास्त्र से अपना कमण्डलु भरकर आचार्यपुत्र के साथ गुरु के पास चला आता था, अतः किसी भी गुण की वृद्धि में वह आचार्यपुत्र से पीछे या पृथक् नहीं रहता था । यही कारण था कि तेजस्वी अर्जुन अश्वत्थामा से किसी भी बात में कम नहीं था । वह शस्त्रविद्याओं में श्रेष्ठ था । अर्जुन भी अपने गुरुदेव की सेवा और पूजा में पूरी प्रयत्न करता था । शस्त्रविद्या में भी उसकी अच्छी रुचि थी । इसीलिए वह द्रोणाचार्य का अत्यंत प्रिय हो गया । 18-20॥ |
