वैशम्पायन कहते हैं - महाराज! ऐसा कहकर मद्र देश की राजकुमारी, धर्मात्मा एवं पतिव्रता माद्री ने कुन्ती को प्रणाम करके अपने जुड़वाँ पुत्रों को उन्हें सौंप दिया। तत्पश्चात, महर्षियों को सिर नवाकर उन्होंने पाण्डवों को हृदय से लगा लिया और कुन्ती तथा उनके पुत्रों के सिरों को बार-बार सूँघकर युधिष्ठिर का हाथ पकड़कर बोलीं।
Vaishampayana says - Maharaj! Saying this, the princess of Madra country, the virtuous and faithful Madri bowed to Kunti and handed over her twin sons to her. After that, bowing her head to the great sages, she embraced the Pandavas and smelling the heads of Kunti and her sons again and again, she held the hand of Yudhishthira and said.
