प्रकाशं च प्रवृत्तिं च मोहमेव च पाण्डव ।
न द्वेष्टि सम्प्रवृत्तानि न निवृत्तानि काङ्क्षति ॥ २२ ॥
उदासीनवदासीनो गुणैर्यो न विचाल्यते ।
गुणा वर्तन्त इत्येवं योऽवतिष्ठति नेङ्गते ॥ २३ ॥
समदु:खसुख: स्वस्थ: समलोष्टाश्मकाञ्चन: ।
तुल्यप्रियाप्रियो धीरस्तुल्यनिन्दात्मसंस्तुति: ॥ २४ ॥
मानापमानयोस्तुल्यस्तुल्यो मित्रारिपक्षयो: ।
सर्वारम्भपरित्यागी गुणातीत: स उच्यते ॥ २५ ॥ | | | | | | अनुवाद | | भगवान ने कहा: हे पाण्डुपुत्र! जो प्रकाश, आसक्ति तथा मोह से तब द्वेष नहीं करता जब वे उपस्थित हों, तथा जब वे लुप्त हो जाएँ, तब भी उनकी अभिलाषा नहीं करता; जो भौतिक गुणों की इन समस्त प्रतिक्रियाओं में अविचल तथा अविचल रहता है, तटस्थ तथा दिव्य बना रहता है, तथा यह जानता है कि केवल गुण ही क्रियाशील हैं; जो आत्मा में स्थित है तथा सुख तथा दुःख को समान दृष्टि से देखता है; जो मिट्टी के ढेले, पत्थर तथा सोने के टुकड़े को समान दृष्टि से देखता है; जो इच्छित तथा अवांछनीय के प्रति समभाव रखता है; जो स्तुति तथा निन्दा, मान तथा अपमान में समान रूप से स्थित तथा स्थिर रहता है; जो मित्र तथा शत्रु दोनों के साथ समान व्यवहार करता है; तथा जिसने समस्त भौतिक कर्मों का त्याग कर दिया है - ऐसा व्यक्ति प्रकृति के गुणों से परे कहा जाता है। | | | | The Lord said: O son of Pandu! He who neither hates light, attachment and delusion when they are present nor desires them when they are gone, who remains motionless and unmoved by all these reactions of the material modes and remains indifferent and transcendental, knowing that it is only the modes that are active, who is situated in himself and accepts pleasure and pain as the same, who looks upon a lump of clay, a stone and a piece of gold with the same eye, who remains the same towards favourable and unfavourable, who is patient and remains the same in praise and evil, honour and dishonour, who treats friend and enemy alike, and who has renounced all material activities, such a person is said to be beyond the modes of nature. | |
