जाम्भवती ने कालिंदी से पूछा: “वह कौन है जो भगवान की परिक्रमा कर रहा है?” कालिंदी ने उत्तर दिया: “वह दुर्गा है।” जाम्भवती ने कहा: “वह कौन है जो भगवान को देखकर काँप रहा है?” कालिंदी ने कहा: “वह शिव हैं।” जाम्भवती ने कहा: “वह कौन है जो भगवान की स्तुति कर रहा है?” कालिंदी ने कहा: “वह ब्रह्मा हैं।” जाम्भवती ने कहा: “वह कौन है जो ज़मीन पर लेटकर प्रणाम कर रहा है?” कालिंदी ने कहा: “वह इन्द्र हैं।” जाम्भवती ने कहा: “वह कौन है जो स्तब्ध होकर युवा सदस्यों की हँसी का पात्र बन गया है?” कालिंदी ने कहा: “वह यम हैं, मेरे बड़े भाई।” इस प्रकार कालिंदी ने जाली के आर-पार झाँकते हुए देवताओं का परिचय जाम्भवती से कराया।
Jāmbhavāti asked Kalindi: “Who is that person circumambulating the Lord?” Kalindi replied: “That is Durga.” Jāmbhavāti said: “Who is that person trembling at the sight of the Lord?” Kalindi said: “That is Shiva.” Jāmbhavāti said: “Who is that person praising the Lord?” Kalindi said: “That is Brahma.” Jāmbhavāti said: “Who is that person prostrating on the ground?” Kalindi said: “That is Indra.” Jāmbhavāti said: “Who is that person who has become the laughing stock of the younger members in a daze?” Kalindi said: “That is Yama, my elder brother.” Thus, peeping through the lattice, Kalindi introduced the gods to Jāmbhavāti.
