यो लोकवीरसमितौ धनुरैशमुग्रं
सीतास्वयंवरगृहे त्रिशतोपनीतम् ।
आदाय बालगजलील इवेक्षुयष्टिं
सज्ज्यीकृतं नृप विकृष्य बभञ्ज मध्ये ॥ ६ ॥
जित्वानुरूपगुणशीलवयोऽङ्गरूपां
सीताभिधां श्रियमुरस्यभिलब्धमानाम् ।
मार्गे व्रजन् भृगुपतेर्व्यनयत् प्ररूढं
दर्पं महीमकृत यस्त्रिरराजबीजाम् ॥ ७ ॥
अनुवाद
हे राजन्, भगवान् रामचन्द्र की लीलाएँ हाथी के बच्चे के समान अद्भुत थीं। उस सभाभवन में जहाँ सीतादेवी को अपने पति का चुनाव करना था, उन्होंने वहाँ पर इस संसार के वीरों के बीच भगवान् शिव का धनुष तोड़ दिया। यह धनुष इतना भारी था कि इसे उठाने के लिए तीन सौ लोगों का सहारा लेना पड़ा परन्तु भगवान् रामचन्द्र ने इसे मोडकर उसकी डोरी चढ़ाई और फिर उसे तोड़ डाला। ऐसा ही एक हाथी का बच्चा गन्ने को तोड़ता है। इस तरह से भगवान् ने सीतादेवी का पाणिग्रहण किया जो कि भगवान् के समान ही सुंदर और दिव्य रूप, सौंदर्य, आचरण, आयु और स्वभाव से युक्त थीं। निस्संदेह, वह भगवान् के वक्षस्थल पर सदा विराजमान रहने वाली लक्ष्मी थीं। प्रतियोगियों की सभा से जीत करके उसके मायके से लौटते हुए भगवान् रामचन्द्र को परशुराम मिले। यद्यपि परशुराम अत्यन्त घमंडी थे, क्योंकि उन्होंने इस पृथ्वी को इक्कीस बार राजाओं से रहित बनाया था, किन्तु वे क्षत्रियवंशी राजा भगवान् राम से पराजित हो गए।
O King, the lilaas of Lord Ramacandra were as wonderful as those of a baby elephant. In the assembly hall in which Sitadevi was to choose her husband, He broke the bow of Lord Siva amidst the mighty men of this world. The bow was so heavy that three hundred men had to lift it, but Lord Ramacandra bent it, strung it, and broke it in the middle just as a baby elephant breaks a sugarcane. Thus the Lord married Sitadevi, who was endowed with divine form, beauty, conduct, longevity and temperament like Him. Indeed, she was the goddess of wealth ever present on the Lord's chest. Returning from her maternal home after winning her from the assembly of competitors, Lord Ramacandra met Parashurama. Although Parashurama was very proud because he had bereft of kings on this earth twenty-one times, he was defeated by Lord Rama, the Kshatriya-descended king.
