भगवान के वे दोनों अनुचर, जय और विजय, बाद में दिति के दो पुत्रों के रूप में इस भौतिक जगत में अवतरित हुए। इनमें हिरण्यकशिपु बड़ा और हिरण्याक्ष छोटा था। समस्त दैत्यों और दानवों (राक्षस प्रजातियों) द्वारा दोनों का अत्यधिक सम्मान किया जाता था।
These two associates of the Lord, Jaya and Vijaya, later appeared in this material world as the two sons of Diti. Of these, Hiranyakashipu was the elder and Hiranyakṣa the younger. Both were greatly respected by all the demons and danavas (demonic beings).
