मेधावी भक्त को उस भगवान के स्वरूप पर ध्यान लगाना चाहिए जिसका रंग सोने की तरह है, जिसके चार हाथ शंख, चक्र, गदा और कमल से सुसज्जित हैं और जो सदा शांत रहता है व कमल के पुंकेसर जैसी वस्त्र पहना होता है। उसका मुकुट, कंगन, कमरबंद और बाजूबंद बड़ी शान से चमकते रहते हैं। उनके सीने पर श्रीवत्स का निशान, चमकीली कौस्तुभ रत्न और जंगली फूलों की माला होती है। फिर भक्त को घी से लकड़ियाँ भिगोकर आहुति देनी चाहिए। उसे घी से सिक्त विभिन्न आहुतियाँ अग्नि को अर्पित करके आघार अनुष्ठान करना चाहिए। इसके बाद उसे यमराज आदि सोलह देवताओं को स्विष्टि-कृत नामक आहुति देनी चाहिए जिसमें प्रत्येक देवता के मूल मंत्रों और पुरुष सूक्त के सोलह पंक्तियों का उच्चारण किया जाता है। पुरुष सूक्त की प्रत्येक पंक्ति के बाद एक आहुति डालकर, उसे प्रत्येक देवता का नाम लेकर विशेष मंत्र का उच्चारण करना चाहिए।
The wise devotee should meditate on the form of the Lord whose colour is like molten gold, whose four arms are adorned with the conch-wheel-mace and lotus flower, who is always calm and dressed in colourful clothes like the fibres inside the lotus flower. His crown, bracelets, belt and armlets shine brightly. On His chest is the mark of Shrivatsa, the shining Kaustubha gem and a garland of wild flowers. Then the devotee should worship the Lord by taking sticks dipped in ghee and putting them in the fire. He should perform the Aagahar ritual in which all the oblation materials dipped in ghee are offered to the fire. Then he should offer oblations called Svishtikrta to sixteen deities including Yamaraja, in which the root mantras of each deity and sixteen lines of the Purusha Sukta are recited. After offering an oblation after each line of the Purusha Sukta, he should recite a special mantra taking the name of each deity.
